Lakeside River Park Conservancy 5K Run
Members of RMC’s San Diego office completed a 5K River Run along the San Diego River Trail on Saturday, May 18. The run was held to benefit the Lakeside River Park Conservancy, whose mission is to preserve and restore the biological integrity and beauty of the San Diego River.
Volunteer Center of Sacramento’s Adopt-a-Family
In December of 2012, RMC’s Sacramento office participated in the Volunteer Center of Sacramento’s Adopt-a-Family program, which provides food and gifts for local, low-income families during the holiday season. RMC employees donated gifts and a grocery store gift card to a family with five children. The family received new pots and pans, new dishes, a jacket, backpack, board games and more.
San Jose Adopt-a-Family
In December of 2012, RMC’s San Jose office supported the San Jose Adopt-a-Family program, providing gifts for a local family of four. San Jose’s employees shopped for clothing, pots and pans, a scooter, movie tickets and more to make the family’s holiday season a little brighter.
Santa Monica Toy DriveDuring December 2012, employees from RMC’s Santa Monica office participated in a Toy Drive to benefit the children of Five Acres, a child and family services agency that strengthens families and prevents child abuse through treatment and education in community-based residential programs.
Concord Child Care Center
RMC’s Walnut Creek office continued its annual support of the Concord Child Care Center’s Adopt-a-Family program during the 2012 holiday season. Employees purchased, wrapped, and donated gifts to the organization serving children from low income families. Employees “adopted” 15 kids from five families in-need, providing them with gifts and clothing from their wish lists.
Making Strides against Breast Cancer
On October 20, 2012 members of our Walnut Creek office participated in American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” walk in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The purpose of the annual event is to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from breast cancer, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.
Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
In October 2012, employees from RMC’s Santa Monica Office volunteered their time alongside the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation employees at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The volunteers helped to assemble food packages for thousands of low income seniors, women with infants, and children in Los Angeles County.
Race for the Cure
On September 9th, 2012, breast cancer survivors Linda Woodrow-Gray and Tamara Simbirdi (WCK office) participated in the 22nd annual Komen San Francisco Bay Area Race for the Cure. The race raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.
Care Packages for Marshall High School In August 2012, RMC’s San Francisco office employees volunteered to put together care packages for the math and science teachers at Marshall High School which is located in the disadvantaged Bay View area of San Francisco. The care packages include donated supplies for the classrooms and students such as dry erase markers, note pads, pens, and pencils, etc.
Soldier Care Package During summer 2012, employees from RMC’s Irvine office donated a variety of items to create a soldier care package which was sent to Private First Class J. DeRosa, who is stationed in Afghanistan. She and five other female troops and 10 male troops are cooks supporting 1-17 infantry based out of Ft. Lewis, Washington. The donated items consisted of playing cards, magazines, Chapstick, suntan lotion, laundry detergent, and personal care products.
Family Giving Tree In July 2012, RMC’s Walnut Creek and San Jose’s offices participated in the Family Giving Tree’s Back-to-School Drive by purchasing backpacks and school supplies for distribution to low-income children in four Bay Area counties. RMC employees supplied 24 filled backpacks and contributed $300 through on-line donations for the program. This is the fourth year RMC has participated in this drive, helping to provide children with the tools they need to succeed in school.
Share Your Lunch In May 2012, RMC’s San Jose office raised money for the “Share Your Lunch” campaign, providing 530 meals to local children during the summer months of 2012. The program, sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank, provides healthy food to fill a critical summer meal gap for children when school meals aren’t available.
